30 Days of Activity & Sheffield Healthy Holidays Online Club
Voluntary Action Sheffield have funding from the DfE Holidays and Food programme to help Sheffield children and families to eat well and stay healthy over the summer holidays.
They are creating a programme of fun online activities from organisations across Sheffield and beyond, with loads of ideas to help children keep active and healthy over the 6 weeks. Activity ideas and information will be delivered in print in a weekly 16-page supplement in The Star and at their online club which is going live next week.
The project also includes a large scale ‘healthy hampers’ programme to support 3,500 families with food and activities throughout the holiday that are being delivered through hubs across identified areas of the city.
How can you help?
Engagement and participation is key! So the majority of online activities are presented as accessible video workshops where children from 5-16 can learn anything from sports skills, fitness, circus skills and outdoor exploring to science, history, crafting, recipes and relaxation.
Prizes & Competitions
The activities children try out online will be measured in skill hours and they are asking them to share photos and videos of the new skills they have learnt to win prizes!
Support for Grown Ups
They will also take every opportunity to signpost families in need to services and support, including food.
