Governors
School governors perform an important function at Westways: they help determine the strategic direction of the school, ensure that pupils and staff are safe and both challenge and support the school.
The governors vision at Westways is to make a world of difference by...
- Engaging all members in the challenge and adventure of learning;
- Offering a rich and varied curriculum with resources and opportunities that enable all members to flourish;
- Celebrating effort and achievement across ability and curriculum areas
- Developing respect for self, for one another, for our community and for the environment;
- Having high expectations in everything we do;
- Nurturing skills and values that enable our students to succeed in their life choices and make positive contributions to their community;
- Upholding the values and virtues of the Ethical Leadership framework.
The governing body represents the whole school community, and is made up of:
- The Executive Headteacher/Head of School
- 1 other staff governor
- 3 elected parent governors
- 1 local authority governor
- 5 co-opted governors
We meet at least once a term to look at the issues which affect the school as a whole. We have a Finance Premises & Pay committee which covers the school budget and how it is spent. This committee and the full governing body meet at least once a term. Work with parents, carers and the wider community goes through the full governing body.
There are a number of ways to get in touch with us: either face to face in the morning and afternoons, by leaving a note via the School Office or by emailing chairofgovernors@westways.sheffield.sch.uk. All communication will be in the strictest confidence. We will acknowledge your comments, respond and report back as needed at the next full governors meeting.
