Governors

School governors perform an important function at Westways:  they help determine the strategic direction of the school, ensure that pupils and staff are safe and both challenge and support the school.  The governing body represents the whole school community, and is made up of:

  • The Headteacher
  • 1 other staff governor
  • 3 elected parent governors
  • 1 local authority governor
  • 4 co-opted governors

We meet at least once a term to look at the issues which affect the school as a whole.  We have a Finance Premises & Pay committee which covers the school budget and how it is spent.  This committee and the full governing body meet at least once a term.  Work with parents, carers and the wider community goes through the full governing body.

There are a number of ways to get in touch with us:  either face to face in the morning and afternoons, by leaving a note via the School Office or by emailing parentgovernors@westways.sheffield.sch.uk or chairofgovernors@westways.sheffield.sch.uk.  Parent Governors for 2018/19 are George French, Jo Anderson and Nick Harris.  All communication will be in the strictest confidence.  We will acknowledge your comments, respond and report back as needed at the next full governors meeting.
