A surprise for Y2 !

Our maths was interrupted today by a surprise visit from Mexico and inside was a talking papaya! As it travelled around the classrooms, the papaya gained more confidence. RNLI – water safety talk

Yesterday, the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI) can to speak the KS1 about how to stay safe around water. We learnt how they save lives and what we can do to help keep ourselves safe. They showed us the equipment they use to rescue people, and what we can use and do  to stay protected and safe, and they told us about flags meaning on beaches –

Fairtrade Enterprise week in KS1

Children in Y1/2 have had a lovely week baking with Fairtrade chocolate and bananas! They have weighed ingredients, used number facts , spent money and worked out profit margins in a practical way. Y2JP share their stories

On Thursday, Y2JP finished their ‘Snail and the Whale’ books. The books had illustrtations, a front cover and a blurb. The class took them into KS2 and read them to children in Y4. We are very excited as we received a certificate from Mrs Holmes, praising our beautiful work and the Y5 children are going to bring down their books on volcanoes next week.

Y2 share their books with KS2

Children in Y2 shared their books with children from years 3 , 4 and 5 today. They have spent two weeks reading , writing and editing their version of ‘The snail and the whale’ and have taken such care with their finished booklets. The junior children reviewed their hard efforts and gave them positive feedback. Well done to all the children!


Winter Wonderland

Children in Y2RB loved exploring the Winter Wonderland garden yesterday. They all chose their favourite area and were on the hunt for the smallest addition to the garden. Lots of them shook Santa’s hand and a couple of boys helped to turn on the lights.  


KS1 and Dragonflys Winter Fayre

The past few weeks, all the children in Year 1 and 2 have been busy making lots of crafts to sell in order to help raise funds for Friends of Westways. Dragonflies made reindeer food, Y1C made gift tags, Y1D make Christmas tree decorations, Y1T made wrapping paper, Y2S made cards and coasters, L2RB made biscuits and Y2JP made star decorations. Diwali

Y2RB have had great fun this afternoon making tea light holders for our RE topic, ‘light’. They had the challenge of making thumb pots from clay and creating patterns round the edge using clay tools.  


Going dotty!

Well done to all the Y2s in Y2RB who came to school wearing spots on Friday. The children had great fun using the spots theme in English and Maths.
